Therapy can be short-term or longer-term, and it's common to have regular weekly sessions. Active participation is important for results, and your therapist may suggest activities outside of sessions to support your progress. Therapy is for those ready to make positive changes, open to new perspectives, and willing to take responsibility for their lives.

Therapy can help with mental and emotional problems better than medication alone. Exploring the Many Benefits of Online Counseling in Greenville, SC

Studies indicate that therapy is generally effective and offers numerous advantages. Therapy can help you recognize sources of distress, gain better self-understanding, and reach your goals. While traditional in-person counseling is an option for many, it's not for everyone. Here are some of the biggest benefits of online therapy:

 Personalized Therapy Greenville, SC

Access to Support When Living in Remote Areas

Online therapy provides mental health support to individuals living in rural or remote areas who may not have access to traditional in-person therapy due to a lack of local mental health services. Seeking face-to-face therapy in such cases often involves long drives and significant time commitments, which can be challenging for those with busy schedules. However, with reliable internet access, telehealth therapy sessions offer a convenient and relatively quick way to access treatment that might otherwise be difficult to obtain.

 Emotional Wellness Therapy Greenville, SC

Affordable and Convenient

While this wasn't always the case, modern counseling online is usually quite affordable and convenient. You can schedule therapy sessions from the comfort of your own home at times that suit you best. Plus, many states now mandate that insurance providers cover online therapy just like traditional therapy (you should contact your insurance company to see if telehealth counseling is covered). Add that to the fact that telehealth is generally affordable even without insurance coverage, and you can see why so many people check in with their counselors on a weekly and even daily basis.

 Holistic Counseling Greenville, SC

Access to Counseling if You're Physically Disabled

When you're disabled physically, everyday tasks like getting dressed and running errands can be extremely frustrating. Unfortunately, disabled men and women often forego therapy because they can't make it to the therapist's office. Online therapy offers a way for people with disabilities or limited mobility to access mental health care. A therapist working from home may not have the facilities to cater to clients with different needs, but with online counseling, you can still access quality care.

 Wellness Counseling Greenville, SC

Better Availability

Telehealth therapy sessions in Greenville, SC offer an easier way for people to connect with a counselor, especially for those who need help but might be deterred by various obstacles. Individuals struggling with mental health issues like social anxiety disorder, depression, mood disorders, or post-traumatic stress disorder may find it difficult to motivate themselves to seek out a therapist, book appointments, and travel to their office for the initial and subsequent meetings.

If booking an appointment with a traditional therapist isn't in the cards, it could be time to try counseling online.

 Mindfulness Counseling Greenville, SC

Therapy is More Approachable

The internet has made mental health treatment more accessible. People might find it easier to discuss physical health problems with friends and family than mental health concerns. However, online access can help overcome the stigma associated with mental health issues. Teletherapy can also be a valuable tool for learning more about mental health and strengthening your psychological well-being, even if you're not struggling with mental health issues.

A Note from ZenZone Health: If you or a loved one is experiencing suicidal thoughts, contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988 on your phone. You can contact this number 24/7, day or night.

When is the Best Time to Seek Counseling Online in Greenville, SC?

If you're reading this, chances are you or a loved one is struggling in life. You may be dealing with added stress at work, grieving after a traumatic life event, or working through a rocky relationship. Dealing with these issues alone can be challenging. But asking for help can be, too. That's especially true when you're dealing with mental health issues. Fortunately, a licensed therapist may be able to provide the support and tools you need to get back to a normal life. If you're wondering whether you need online counseling, keep these situations in mind.

1

Living with Substance Abuse Problems

Dealing with addictions, whether it's substance abuse or behavioral addictions like gambling, can feel incredibly daunting. Therapy is an essential part of the recovery process as it delves into the underlying causes of these issues. With help from remote therapists, you develop skills to help maintain sobriety and prevent relapses. For example, if you're struggling with alcohol addiction, an online therapist can help you identify triggers and teach you new, healthier ways to cope with those triggers instead of using alcohol.

2

Dealing with Relationship Issues

Relationship struggles can be a huge motivating factor for seeking therapy. These issues may involve friends, romantic partners, or family members. For instance, a couple may turn to couples counseling to address communication or trust issues. An online counselor can assist individuals in resolving these issues and developing improved communication skills, boundaries, and coping strategies.

3

Symptoms of a Mental Health Condition

Conditions like depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, ADHD, and PTSD can significantly disrupt daily life. Symptoms can manifest as constant feelings of worry or frequent headaches. Therapy, along with medication or lifestyle adjustments, can be an effective treatment for mental health. For example, a person with anxiety might learn relaxation techniques to manage stress levels with the help of a therapist. Similarly, someone experiencing depression may learn coping skills to maintain a more positive outlook on life.

4

New Challenges in Life

Dealing with common - albeit challenging - events in life, like losing a job, coping with grief, or undergoing major changes, can be very disruptive. If you find yourself losing interest in your usual activities, it could be a sign of a mental health condition like major depressive disorder. Therapy offers essential support and guidance for managing these issues, which can help individuals overcome their obstacles. For instance, a person grieving the loss of a loved one may benefit from online counseling as they navigate through their emotions. Similarly, someone who has relocated to a new city might find online therapy beneficial as they adapt to their new home, community, and workplace.

5

Trauma from Childhood

Childhood trauma can have a lasting impact on people as they mature. Virtual therapy with a licensed professional can assist people in processing these experiences and recovering from them, which may help them comprehend and address any existing issues. For instance, individuals who experienced neglect as children can work through feelings of abandonment in therapy, potentially alleviating the anxiety they may be feeling in their romantic relationship.

October 11, 2024 - United Soccer League One (USL1)

Shortly after a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Central Valley Fuego FC, Velocity head coach Leigh Veidman had a message for the team's fanbase.

"Fans, if there is ever a time to pack ONE Spokane Stadium and support your team, it's Saturday at 6 p.m.!"

Spokane Velocity FC has given its fans a memorable season filled with plenty of historic moments not just for USL, but for the city as well. As the playoffs draw near, the club needs energy from the home crowd more than ever.

Veidman and his team find themselves in a "win-and-in" scenario, needing just one more victory in their final three games to clinch a playoff spot alongside the best teams in USL League One. Their next opportunity is Saturday against Greenville Triumph SC, a club that's already secured its position in the playoffs. The theme for the match is Honoring Indigenous Peoples' Night.

Greenville and Spokane have only met twice throughout all competitions this season, including the inaugural League One match for Velocity. Triumph won that match on their home pitch 3-1. The second meeting was a Jägermeister Cup match on May 25 in Spokane that resulted in a draw where Greenville earned an additional point after nine penalty shots earned them the 5-4 advantage.

Greenville's strength resides in their offensive pace. The club is second in the league in total shots, as well as fourth in goals. These numbers are in large part due to Lyam MacKinnon and Leonardo Castro, who are both top 10 in the league in goals (MacKinnon second, Castro tied for ninth) and shots (first and sixth, respectively). MacKinnon also leads the club in assists, and is tied with Velocity's Luis Gil for second in League One with five.

While Spokane has had a lower scoring production, especially since Gil went out with a thigh injury, their passing has still remained at the top of the league, as they only have two fewer passes than top-ranked Forward Madison in the category, and both those clubs lead the league in passing accuracy.

These long, fluid build-ups that Velocity has incorporated into their offensive attack could be streamlined once again if Veidman deems Gil ready to be back in action. The 30-year-old midfielder was questionable for last match, however is not on the injury list for this match.

While a win would automatically clinch Velocity a spot in the postseason, there are other scenarios for landing the club in the playoffs that include several of the teams just outside of the playoffs being on the losing end of their next matches.

Velocity's place at seventh may be where they end up when all is said and done in the regular season, as they currently remain four points behind sixth-ranked One Knoxville SC and the fifth-ranked Charlotte Independence. One Knoxville is also the final opponent on Spokane's regular season schedule, on Oct. 26, with just an away match Oct. 19 against Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC as the buffer between Saturday's clash and the Knoxville finale.

Spectrum sets date for when internet service will be restored to 82K in SC

After widespread criticism over lack of communication, Spectrum has given its first estimate for when it expects service to be fully restored from the aftermath of Tropical Storm Helene for its customers in South Carolina.

The company expects "complete restoration to all accessible locations with power" by Wednesday, Oct. 16 for South Carolina, according to a statement by a company spokesman sent to The Post and Courier late afternoon Oct. 11.

"At the peak of the storm, Spectrum had 395,000 customers offline in South Carolina," Spectrum said on its Hurricane Helene webpage. "Our crews have made significant progress, restoring service to nearly 80% of customers across the state. We have more than 900 technicians and engineers across the state, repairing over 300 miles of network to get you back online."

Story continues below

Spectrum also released its first county-by-county outage details for South Carolina.

As of 2:30 p.m. Oct. 11, 82,000 customers are without service, according to the data. Roughly three-quarters of Spectrum customers in Greenville and Spartanburg counties don't have internet.

Pressure to provide a timeline for restoration mounted in recent days as the company issued homogenous statements to The Post and Courier and other media when questioned about its dearth of public communication on the outages.

Spectrum isn't the only provider reporting outages. An AT&T spokeswoman confirmed an outage in the downtown Greenville area due to "third-party fiber damage" and is waiting on them in order to restore service. The spokeswoman did not say which provider AT&T works with for its fiber.

"We’re in contact with the local provider, who is working to resolve issues outside of our network, so that we can fully restore service to customers as quickly as possible," the spokeswoman said in an email to The Post and Courier.

In a statement a day earlier, Spectrum largely leaned on power outages and the dynamic of areas being unsafe for crews to get to making network repairs difficult.

However, the Greer Commission of Public Works, a local utility company, dismissed Spectrum's claims in a Facebook post, saying they are "not accurate" and all customers had power restored Oct. 4.

"The restoration of internet services by Spectrum is independent of our power restoration efforts," the utility said on Facebook.

The nationwide company, a trade name of Charter Communications, had become the focus of broad contempt from customers after a lack of communication two weeks after the storm. Even government officials were left in the dark.

In an interview with The Post and Courier ahead of the timeline announcement, Greenville City Councilwoman Dorothy Dowe blasted the company for not offering a specific timeline for internet services — which she called critical infrastructure.

Dowe said she understands that power outages had to be resolved before Spectrum could restore internet services. But it's been about a week since the majority of customers had power restored, and businesses, as well as people, are being affected.

Many businesses across the city have had to operate cash only. A UPS Store Dowe visited on Augusta Street couldn't print shipping labels because of the internet outage.

"(The UPS Store owner) lost business, obviously a week's worth without power, and now can't get back to normal because of internet," Dowe said. "You're talking about people's livelihood. You can see cash-only signs on small businesses throughout Greenville, and that is unacceptable in 2024."

Spartanburg County Councilman David Britt lost his Spectrum internet the Friday the storm hit but got it back the following Wednesday, the day after his power was restored. Then, for some reason, he lost it again on Oct. 6.

On Oct. 10, the county's IT team reached out to Spectrum to find out the severity of the outage in the county and when service might be restored. They’ve gotten no answers, he said.

"It's time to get the show back on the road," Britt said. "This is a lifeline, this is not just something that’s nice to have. We've got so many people that depend on it for a lot of reasons."

Spectrum is not the only provider in the Upstate facing service outages. AT&T reported outages across downtown Greenville and Spartanburg Oct. 10. But unlike its competitor, Spectrum does not have a public map of current outages for customers in South Carolina.

In California, where state law requires all providers who offer 911 service to publish a map of outages, Spectrum shares outage information.

In the Southeast, though, Spectrum asks customers to chat with an automated agent.

Those automated messages typically don't include estimated times for restoration and tell customers that because they're in an outage, agents won't be able to assist them.

Rodent droppings, an employee touched her hair without washing hands before going back to work, debris on prep tables were among the worst infractions seen by restaurant inspections in Greenville County in September.

Four restaurants were given the worst grade, a C., during routine inspections.

Super Carnicereia El Gallo on White Horse Road in Greenville scored 71 for several employees changing tasks without washing hands, dirty pot and utensils in a handwashing sink that was not supplied with cleanser.

The sinks also lacked something for dry hands.

Frozen pork was recorded at improper temperature and gray water dripped onto raw chicken wings. Meat was stored directly in cardboard boxes and knives that had been washed were not clean.

Al pastor and carne asada were at improper temperatures.

Three 5-gallon posts of salsa were not labeled with date markings in the walk in cooler.

The back door was cracked open and the inspector “observed strong presence of flies” and rodent droppings.

Food was stored on the floor and walk-ins, prep tables, floors and walls were not cleaned frequently enough to prevent build up of debris.

US Wings and Deli on White Horse Road in Greenville scored 75.

The inspector saw a pack of cigarettes by a food shelf, poor hand and arms cleaning and washing habits and a cook handled ready to eat food with their bare hands.

Opened food packages were on the floor in the walk-in cooler.

Plastic cutting boards were in poor cleaning condition and cold holding temperatures were 41 degrees or lower. Food trays in the front cooler had no date marking.

An employee was seen with dirty clothing.

The ceiling, floor and walls were not clean.

Molina’s Mexican Restaurant on Benton Road in Travelers Rest scored 76.

Bathroom water temperatures were 22 degrees lower than the 100 degree minimum temperature required by law.

Several buckets of sauce was uncovered beside uncovered pork.

Various foods were found to be stored at improper temperatures, including ground beef, chicken and queso.

Toxic substances were not properly identified, stored, and used. The report did not say what the substances were.

Spices were not clearly labeled or in easy to clean containers.

There were two holes behind the hand sink. The electrical wall plate was missing in the ladies bathroom.

Tato’s Pizzeria on Miller Road in Mauldin scored 86.

The inspector saw an employee wearing gloves, put on a hair restraint and touched her hair without changing gloves. She should have washed hands and donned new gloves.

Food such as diced and sliced tomatoes, ham, feta, yogurt and tamales were not at proper temperatures.

Two cans of Raid were next to clean silverware.

A piece of wood held up the prep table and cinder blocks supported a hand sink.

Several items not being used were on the floor or placed outside the backdoor.

Having never been to a car wash nor a drive-through haunted house, I was pretty excited to try this unique combo at Whatta Wash Car Wash in Greenville, SC, right off I-85 on Highway 14. It was better than I expected and I think you’ll love this fun Halloween activity.

We’ve got all the info on what to expect during the Haunted Car Wash and tips on enjoying it with your family.

About the Whatta Wash Haunted Car Wash

You may think that putting together a haunted car wash is easy – dress up in some costumes, be scary, and wash the car. But no, that’s not even close to the work that went into Whatta Wash’s Haunted Car Wash!

Each night of the Haunted Car Wash, there are at least 30 actors all there solely to scare you (and wash your car well). There are clowns, zombie cheerleaders, terrifying skeletons, serial killers (my own guess, I could be wrong), and other spooky characters.

The lights, other Halloween decorations, and fog machine are all part of this massive effort to create a must-do-worthy event in the Upstate for Halloween lovers. The entire Haunted Car Wash is about 2.5 minutes long – so you get a clean car and scared passengers. Fantastic.

Tips on Enjoying the Haunted Car Wash

We learned a few helpful tips on enjoying the Haunted Car Wash this Halloween at Whatta Wash Car Wash:

Get there early. This is a really popular event and waits can be long. See the next line.

Prepare to wait. The owners told us that in previous years, sometimes the wait was up to two hours. So be prepared with snacks, be sure to take a bathroom break before you go, and maybe bring games or a movie on your iPad.

Be sure to get in line by 10 pm. If you’re in line after that, you won’t be able to get in.

Drizzle is ok but downpouring rain isn’t. Light rain is ok but if it’s really downpouring, the Haunted Car Wash won’t be able to happen.

If you don’t want the characters opening your door, lock your car. The scary characters will try to jiggle the handle of your car doors and if they are unlocked, you’re in for a surprise. Lock your doors if you don’t want that kind of surprise.

Tickets are not presold. You have to wait in line.

There are things not allowed at the car wash. These include: cracked windshields, roof racks, bikes and bike racks, no dually trucks, no trucks or vehicles over 7’ 2”, no trucks with wide tires not fitting properly, and all open truck beds need to be empty and free of any loose items.

But really, how scary is the Haunted Car Wash?

Ah, the ever-important question we always get asked by parents. And rightly so. No one wants to be up at 3 am with their kid who had a clown nightmare.

But it’s really hard to answer that question because it all depends on the kid. The actors cannot touch you or bang hard on your car. But it’s a car wash and there is a lot of loud noise with the water, wind, and other contraptions. Add onto that scary characters that will get up close to your windows and run up to your car and appear out of a drenching inside the car wash.

We don’t have an answer for you. We didn’t find this as scary as say, Madworld, but the characters’ costumes look really great and to some kids, probably too realistic. It’s easy to see how seriously Whatta Wash takes their Haunted Car Wash. There are other decorations around the car wash as well like huge skeletons and creepy dolls and clowns. So take that all into account when you plan your trip here.

The owners suggest that if your kids are on the fence, go right at 6 pm so it’s still a little light out. After dark, the scare factor goes up!

Dates & Hours of the Haunted Car Wash 2024

Because this event takes a lot of work to pull together, the Haunted Car Wash will only run for six days, every Friday & Saturday the rest of October:

Hours are 6 pm – close. To go through the Haunted Car Wash, you have to be in line by 10 pm. Cars that line up after that won’t be able to get their scare on and have their car become all sparkly clean.

The cost is $30 per car, which gets you the experience of the Haunted Car Wash plus a car wash itself. If you want to do it multiple times, you’ll have to pay again.

A portion of their sales are going to relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Helene.

If you want to add to your Haunted Car Wash adventure, try one of ourHalloween Driving Routes for extra spooky (and free) entertainment!
