If there's one universal truth about humans, it's that at some point in our lives, we have to work through difficult circumstances. When that happens, we often need someone to talk to - someone we can trust who can give us an unbiased opinion or advice. Sometimes, that person is a family member or close friend. In some situations, however, only a qualified professional like a therapist will work. If that sounds familiar, don't be ashamed because you're most certainly not alone. FAQs About Online Counseling and Therapy from ZenZone Health
Therapy will be different for each person, depending on their issues and goals. Typically, sessions involve discussing current events, personal history, and progress from previous sessions. Therapy can be short-term or longer-term, and it's common to have regular weekly sessions. Active participation is important for results, and your therapist may suggest activities outside of sessions to support your progress. Therapy is for those ready to make positive changes, open to new perspectives, and willing to take responsibility for their lives.
Therapy can help with mental and emotional problems better than medication alone. Therapy does more than just treat symptoms; it also addresses the causes of distress and the behavior patterns that limit progress. An integrated approach to wellness is best for long-term growth and well-being. Your doctor can help you decide whether medication, therapy, or both are the right choice for you.

Exploring the Many Benefits of Online Counseling in Goose Creek, SC
Studies indicate that therapy is generally effective and offers numerous advantages. Therapy can help you recognize sources of distress, gain better self-understanding, and reach your goals. While traditional in-person counseling is an option for many, it's not for everyone. Here are some of the biggest benefits of online therapy:
Access to Support When Living in Remote Areas
Online therapy provides mental health support to individuals living in rural or remote areas who may not have access to traditional in-person therapy due to a lack of local mental health services. Seeking face-to-face therapy in such cases often involves long drives and significant time commitments, which can be challenging for those with busy schedules. However, with reliable internet access, telehealth therapy sessions offer a convenient and relatively quick way to access treatment that might otherwise be difficult to obtain.
Affordable and Convenient
While this wasn't always the case, modern counseling online is usually quite affordable and convenient. You can schedule therapy sessions from the comfort of your own home at times that suit you best. Plus, many states now mandate that insurance providers cover online therapy just like traditional therapy (you should contact your insurance company to see if telehealth counseling is covered). Add that to the fact that telehealth is generally affordable even without insurance coverage, and you can see why so many people check in with their counselors on a weekly and even daily basis.
Access to Counseling if You're Physically Disabled
When you're disabled physically, everyday tasks like getting dressed and running errands can be extremely frustrating. Unfortunately, disabled men and women often forego therapy because they can't make it to the therapist's office. Online therapy offers a way for people with disabilities or limited mobility to access mental health care. A therapist working from home may not have the facilities to cater to clients with different needs, but with online counseling, you can still access quality care.
Better Availability
Telehealth therapy sessions in Goose Creek, SC offer an easier way for people to connect with a counselor, especially for those who need help but might be deterred by various obstacles. Individuals struggling with mental health issues like social anxiety disorder, depression, mood disorders, or post-traumatic stress disorder may find it difficult to motivate themselves to seek out a therapist, book appointments, and travel to their office for the initial and subsequent meetings.
If booking an appointment with a traditional therapist isn't in the cards, it could be time to try counseling online.
Therapy is More Approachable
The internet has made mental health treatment more accessible. People might find it easier to discuss physical health problems with friends and family than mental health concerns. However, online access can help overcome the stigma associated with mental health issues. Teletherapy can also be a valuable tool for learning more about mental health and strengthening your psychological well-being, even if you're not struggling with mental health issues.
A Note from ZenZone Health: If you or a loved one is experiencing suicidal thoughts, contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988 on your phone. You can contact this number 24/7, day or night.
When is the Best Time to Seek Counseling Online in Goose Creek, SC?
If you're reading this, chances are you or a loved one is struggling in life. You may be dealing with added stress at work, grieving after a traumatic life event, or working through a rocky relationship. Dealing with these issues alone can be challenging. But asking for help can be, too. That's especially true when you're dealing with mental health issues. Fortunately, a licensed therapist may be able to provide the support and tools you need to get back to a normal life. If you're wondering whether you need online counseling, keep these situations in mind.
Living with Substance Abuse Problems
Dealing with addictions, whether it's substance abuse or behavioral addictions like gambling, can feel incredibly daunting. Therapy is an essential part of the recovery process as it delves into the underlying causes of these issues. With help from remote therapists, you develop skills to help maintain sobriety and prevent relapses. For example, if you're struggling with alcohol addiction, an online therapist can help you identify triggers and teach you new, healthier ways to cope with those triggers instead of using alcohol.
Dealing with Relationship Issues
Relationship struggles can be a huge motivating factor for seeking therapy. These issues may involve friends, romantic partners, or family members. For instance, a couple may turn to couples counseling to address communication or trust issues. An online counselor can assist individuals in resolving these issues and developing improved communication skills, boundaries, and coping strategies.
Symptoms of a Mental Health Condition
Conditions like depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, ADHD, and PTSD can significantly disrupt daily life. Symptoms can manifest as constant feelings of worry or frequent headaches. Therapy, along with medication or lifestyle adjustments, can be an effective treatment for mental health. For example, a person with anxiety might learn relaxation techniques to manage stress levels with the help of a therapist. Similarly, someone experiencing depression may learn coping skills to maintain a more positive outlook on life.
New Challenges in Life
Dealing with common - albeit challenging - events in life, like losing a job, coping with grief, or undergoing major changes, can be very disruptive. If you find yourself losing interest in your usual activities, it could be a sign of a mental health condition like major depressive disorder. Therapy offers essential support and guidance for managing these issues, which can help individuals overcome their obstacles. For instance, a person grieving the loss of a loved one may benefit from online counseling as they navigate through their emotions. Similarly, someone who has relocated to a new city might find online therapy beneficial as they adapt to their new home, community, and workplace.
Trauma from Childhood
Childhood trauma can have a lasting impact on people as they mature. Virtual therapy with a licensed professional can assist people in processing these experiences and recovering from them, which may help them comprehend and address any existing issues. For instance, individuals who experienced neglect as children can work through feelings of abandonment in therapy, potentially alleviating the anxiety they may be feeling in their romantic relationship.

The city of Goose Creek is repurposing a vacant corner property — with big interest from fast-food restaurants — into a community space.
Since 1985, the 450-square-foot Wedding and Prayer Chapel has stood at 122 St. James Ave., at the intersection of Highway 176 and Old Moncks Corner Road. Though it served as a community worship center, the chapel primarily earned income as a wedding site.
When COVID hit in 2020, those weddings dried up and the chapel sat empty for years. Compounding the hardships, the original owner, Pastor Mayford Williams, passed away. He left the property to his children, but the chapel became too expensive to maintain, and they put it up for sale.
The city purchased the site in 2022 with the intention of preserving the chapel, Alexis Kiser, special projects manager, said.
“We went through ideas of what our city needs and what we’re lacking that would be good for the community,” Kiser said. “The consensus for the city was an art gallery.”
Though the chapel isn’t categorized as historic given its age, “it is a Goose Creek landmark,” Kiser said. The city started down the road to renovate and expand the chapel, but quickly learned it had major structural issues from sitting vacant for so long. In the end, the cost to fix the building was far higher than building a new one in the same architectural style.
The city razed the chapel last week and a new building, bigger and with more accessibility, will be underway soon enough. Kiser said the city is currently wrapping up the permitting process with expectations the project will take four to five months thereafter.
A northern peninsula property slated for a boutique hotel is on the market for $13 million.
Charleston hospitality developer Sunju Patel of The Montford Group has long bet on the upper peninsula and the Meeting Street corridor becoming an extension of downtown's lodging footprint when he invested in several properties more than a decade ago.
He previously referred to his plans for 510 Meeting St. as a hotel that was to be called The Charlestonian or The Grace. His firm purchased four lots totaling four acres in 2016 for $1.5 million, according to county deeds.
The site, between Lee and Sheppard streets and across from the Interstate 26 off-ramp, was recently listed by real estate firm NAI Charleston.
Patel said the reason for the sale comes down to timing. He noted that he has multiple irons in the fire in the Southeast, with projects either under construction, in the planning stage or in the acquisition phase.
"We'd like to see someone come in who has the ability to start moving forward with the process right away and not sit on it," he said. "The way our pipeline is, we wouldn't be able to start the design phase until 2026."
Patel said he's always believed the area had the potential to become a lifestyle corridor for locals and tourists. It's already been reshaped in recent years with the addition of new office space, restaurants and apartment complexes.
"If we don't find the right group with the right brand and vision, we will not go through with a sale," Patel said Monday.
When his company's nearby Moxy Charleston Downtown opened last year at 547 Meeting it became the northernmost hotel on the peninsula. It was the first of four lodgings that Montford and Opterra Capital, doing business as TMGOC Ventures, had envisioned along that stretch of the city.

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCBD) – It’s a big night in Goose Creek as the city opens the new Joseph S. Daning Amphitheater with a concert.
A ribbon cutting will kick off the new venue, and the concert is slated for 7 p.m., featuring the 90s group Better Than Ezra, who will perform along with their opening act Tonic. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
“We are very excited,” said Frank Johnson, the city’s public information officer. “This is a transformative facility that many generations of Goose Creek residents will enjoy.”
The $4 million facility seats roughly 800 people inside the amphitheater with additional grassy areas where people can sit or stand to watch concerts.
The theater, called “The Daning,” is named after retired state representative and former longtime Goose Creek city councilman Joe Daning.
“We couldn’t think of anyone more worthy of putting his name on this than Joe Daning. For decades and decades, he has been a true public servant,” said Johnson.
Daning was also able to help the city get some money from Columbia to help pay for the amphitheater.
“For this particular project, he did secure some state funding, which was very crucial- about $1.5 million,” Johnson added.
So, what does this new facility mean to the city and its residents?
“This is something that will be here for many, many years. It’s a gathering place for the community. It gives us the ability to bring in national acts like tonight. But it’s also going to be a facility that the community can use,” he said.
Friday night’s concert is the first of three grand opening concerts planned for the next couple of months.
“We’re gonna be announcing the second show early next week, so watch our social media. Very excited about that one- people are going be real excited when they hear who it is. We’re excited about tonight: Tonic and Better Than Ezra. Tremendous acts, and it’s gonna be a fun night.”
WHAT TO KNOW
Tickets are free for the grand opening concerts, but you do have to sign up to get tickets. Friday night’s show is rain or shine, so bring chairs and ponchos or a rain jacket. Small umbrellas are allowed in the venue but must be closed during the show.
A portion us Highway 52 will be closed along with Old Moncks Corner Road and Montage for shuttles. The shuttles pickup from Central Creek Park starts at 5 p.m. and runs continuously until 10:30 p.m.
City leaders say only clear bags are permitted (12”x6”x12”), and you must have a ticket to enter.
There is also a rideshare lot at the Goose Creek Municipal Center, look for signage at the fountain roundabout.
The next show is being planned for October 5.

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCSC) - Residents of Goose Creek will now be able to enjoy concerts, shows and events in their community.
The Joseph S. Daning Amphitheater is officially set to open to the public on Friday, after about a year and a half of construction, with its first-ever concert.
The city will host the bands Better than Ezra and Tonic Friday at 5:30 p.m. for free to kick off the grand opening.
This is Goose Creek’s first entertainment venue of this scale. The city plans to host national acts, concerts and local community program-building events, but when the amphitheater is not in use, it will serve as a place for community members to walk, relax and enjoy.
The amphitheater alone holds approximately 800 people with overflow room on the nearby lawns. It is fully equipped with restrooms, Wi-Fi and space for food trucks to come and serve the residents.
Located right behind Goose Creek City Hall, it’s named after former South Carolina Rep. Joseph Daning who helped secure $1.5 million in state funding for this almost $4 million project, and city officials wanted to honor him.
Goose Creek Program Director Lyza Bowers said they have been working on new additions to the city and are excited to bring recreational amenities that the residents can enjoy without leaving the city.
“So, we absolutely are trying to be accessible,” Bowers said. “We all know downtown, east cooper, all of those are - they’re a travel... so it just, it kind of spoke to the need in our community to have another space to present some opportunities for us to get together in Goose Creek.”
Bowers said that they are excited to finally share this project with the community as she believes it will bring a great benefit to everyone.
“We are thrilled to just bring the community together. There are so many opportunities in Goose Creek for us to get out, to get together, to enjoy one another, enjoy music and art and all of the great things and also just a space for us to connect,” Bowers said.
The first concerts are free to the public, but you do have to claim a ticket. All of the tickets for the Better than Ezra and Tonic concert have been claimed, but the city has two more free concerts planned for the rest of this year. One is set for Oct. 5 and the other will be sometime in November. They plan to announce details for those concerts soon on their social media.
