The Best Local Online Counseling in Buffalo, NY

If there's one universal truth about humans, it's that at some point in our lives, we have to work through difficult circumstances. When that happens, we often need someone to talk to - someone we can trust who can give us an unbiased opinion or advice. Sometimes, that person is a family member or close friend. In some situations, however, only a qualified professional like a therapist will work. If that sounds familiar, don't be ashamed because you're most certainly not alone. According to recent statistics, in the U.S., approximately 55.8 million adults needed treatment or counseling for mental health reasons in 2022.

If you've been thinking about mental health treatment, you may be considering virtual therapy with an online counselor. Online therapy gives you the chance to connect with licensed therapists and mental health coaches without needing to set foot in a traditional therapy setting. Working with an online therapist can be every bit as effective as seeing an in-person therapist. From anxiety disorders to stress management, virtual therapy provides help for mental health concerns without the need to sit for long periods in a therapist's waiting room. FAQs About Online Counseling and Therapy from ZenZone Health

 Stress Relief Therapy Buffalo, NY

Therapy will be different for each person, depending on their issues and goals. Typically, sessions involve discussing current events, personal history, and progress from previous sessions. Therapy can be short-term or longer-term, and it's common to have regular weekly sessions. Active participation is important for results, and your therapist may suggest activities outside of sessions to support your progress. Therapy is for those ready to make positive changes, open to new perspectives, and willing to take responsibility for their lives.

Therapy can help with mental and emotional problems better than medication alone. Therapy does more than just treat symptoms; it also addresses the causes of distress and the behavior patterns that limit progress. An integrated approach to wellness is best for long-term growth and well-being. Your doctor can help you decide whether medication, therapy, or both are the right choice for you.

Everyone experiences difficult times in life, and while you may have effectively dealt with other challenges you've encountered, there's no shame in reaching out for extra assistance when you require it. Seeking therapy is actually a sign of self-awareness and strength, as it indicates that you recognize the need for support. By seeking therapy, you are demonstrating accountability for your current circumstances and showing a commitment to making a change. Therapy offers enduring advantages and guidance, equipping you with the necessary skills to avoid potential triggers, redirect harmful behaviors, and conquer any obstacles that come your way.

Exploring the Many Benefits of Online Counseling in Buffalo, NY

Studies indicate that therapy is generally effective and offers numerous advantages. Therapy can help you recognize sources of distress, gain better self-understanding, and reach your goals. While traditional in-person counseling is an option for many, it's not for everyone. Here are some of the biggest benefits of online therapy:

 Personalized Therapy Buffalo, NY

Access to Support When Living in Remote Areas

Online therapy provides mental health support to individuals living in rural or remote areas who may not have access to traditional in-person therapy due to a lack of local mental health services. Seeking face-to-face therapy in such cases often involves long drives and significant time commitments, which can be challenging for those with busy schedules. However, with reliable internet access, telehealth therapy sessions offer a convenient and relatively quick way to access treatment that might otherwise be difficult to obtain.

 Emotional Wellness Therapy Buffalo, NY

Affordable and Convenient

While this wasn't always the case, modern counseling online is usually quite affordable and convenient. You can schedule therapy sessions from the comfort of your own home at times that suit you best. Plus, many states now mandate that insurance providers cover online therapy just like traditional therapy (you should contact your insurance company to see if telehealth counseling is covered). Add that to the fact that telehealth is generally affordable even without insurance coverage, and you can see why so many people check in with their counselors on a weekly and even daily basis.

 Holistic Counseling Buffalo, NY

Access to Counseling if You're Physically Disabled

When you're disabled physically, everyday tasks like getting dressed and running errands can be extremely frustrating. Unfortunately, disabled men and women often forego therapy because they can't make it to the therapist's office. Online therapy offers a way for people with disabilities or limited mobility to access mental health care. A therapist working from home may not have the facilities to cater to clients with different needs, but with online counseling, you can still access quality care.

 Wellness Counseling Buffalo, NY

Better Availability

Telehealth therapy sessions in Buffalo, NY offer an easier way for people to connect with a counselor, especially for those who need help but might be deterred by various obstacles. Individuals struggling with mental health issues like social anxiety disorder, depression, mood disorders, or post-traumatic stress disorder may find it difficult to motivate themselves to seek out a therapist, book appointments, and travel to their office for the initial and subsequent meetings.

If booking an appointment with a traditional therapist isn't in the cards, it could be time to try counseling online.

 Mindfulness Counseling Buffalo, NY

Therapy is More Approachable

The internet has made mental health treatment more accessible. People might find it easier to discuss physical health problems with friends and family than mental health concerns. However, online access can help overcome the stigma associated with mental health issues. Teletherapy can also be a valuable tool for learning more about mental health and strengthening your psychological well-being, even if you're not struggling with mental health issues.

A Note from ZenZone Health: If you or a loved one is experiencing suicidal thoughts, contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988 on your phone. You can contact this number 24/7, day or night.

When is the Best Time to Seek Counseling Online in Buffalo, NY?

If you're reading this, chances are you or a loved one is struggling in life. You may be dealing with added stress at work, grieving after a traumatic life event, or working through a rocky relationship. Dealing with these issues alone can be challenging. But asking for help can be, too. That's especially true when you're dealing with mental health issues. Fortunately, a licensed therapist may be able to provide the support and tools you need to get back to a normal life. If you're wondering whether you need online counseling, keep these situations in mind.

1

Living with Substance Abuse Problems

Dealing with addictions, whether it's substance abuse or behavioral addictions like gambling, can feel incredibly daunting. Therapy is an essential part of the recovery process as it delves into the underlying causes of these issues. With help from remote therapists, you develop skills to help maintain sobriety and prevent relapses. For example, if you're struggling with alcohol addiction, an online therapist can help you identify triggers and teach you new, healthier ways to cope with those triggers instead of using alcohol.

2

Dealing with Relationship Issues

Relationship struggles can be a huge motivating factor for seeking therapy. These issues may involve friends, romantic partners, or family members. For instance, a couple may turn to couples counseling to address communication or trust issues. An online counselor can assist individuals in resolving these issues and developing improved communication skills, boundaries, and coping strategies.

3

Symptoms of a Mental Health Condition

Conditions like depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, ADHD, and PTSD can significantly disrupt daily life. Symptoms can manifest as constant feelings of worry or frequent headaches. Therapy, along with medication or lifestyle adjustments, can be an effective treatment for mental health. For example, a person with anxiety might learn relaxation techniques to manage stress levels with the help of a therapist. Similarly, someone experiencing depression may learn coping skills to maintain a more positive outlook on life.

4

New Challenges in Life

Dealing with common - albeit challenging - events in life, like losing a job, coping with grief, or undergoing major changes, can be very disruptive. If you find yourself losing interest in your usual activities, it could be a sign of a mental health condition like major depressive disorder. Therapy offers essential support and guidance for managing these issues, which can help individuals overcome their obstacles. For instance, a person grieving the loss of a loved one may benefit from online counseling as they navigate through their emotions. Similarly, someone who has relocated to a new city might find online therapy beneficial as they adapt to their new home, community, and workplace.

5

Trauma from Childhood

Childhood trauma can have a lasting impact on people as they mature. Virtual therapy with a licensed professional can assist people in processing these experiences and recovering from them, which may help them comprehend and address any existing issues. For instance, individuals who experienced neglect as children can work through feelings of abandonment in therapy, potentially alleviating the anxiety they may be feeling in their romantic relationship.

FINAL: Buffalo Bills 23, New York Jets 20. The Bills managed just three points in a sloppy, sloppy second half, but Taron Johnson made a diving interception on a deep, hanging throw by Aaron Rodgers, and Josh Allen moved the chains on third down with a quarterback keeper to run out the clock.

The Bills improve to 4-2 and return home to host the Tennessee Titans at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Jets drop to 2-4.

Fourth quarter, 3:43 remaining: It's now in the hands of the Buffalo Bills' defense. They'll defend a 23-20 lead after Tyler Bass knocked through a 22-yard field goal at the end of another penalty-marred drive, which ended after Josh Allen and Mack Hollins couldn't connect in the end zone on third down.

Bills hold a three-point lead with Aaron Rodgers coming up.

Fourth quarter, 9:44 remaining: Clang! Clang!

The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets remain tied at 20 after Greg Zuerlein's 43-yard field-goal attempt ricocheted off the left upright. That's the second straight "doink" for Zuerlein and the fourth missed kick of the night, as Tyler Bass had a 47-yard attempt sail wide right and an extra-point attempt blocked.

End of third quarter: Clang!

The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets remain tied at 20 after Greg Zuerlein's 32-yard field-goal attempt ricocheted off the left upright with 55 seconds left in the third quarter.

The Jets had a Braelon Allen touchdown wiped out by a holding call on Jets left tackle Tyron Smith.

We've had 14 accepted penalties so far tonight – nine against Buffalo, five against New York.

Third quarter, 6:13 remaining: Greg Zuerlein's 22-yard field goal has pulled the New York Jets into a 20-20 tie with the Buffalo Bills at the end of a drive that was extended by a questionable roughing-the-passer penalty.

Bills defensive end AJ Epenesa sacked Aaron Rodgers on a third-and-8 at the Jets' 32-yard line, but game officials flagged Epenesa for driving his body weight onto Rodgers as the two men hit the turf.

A third-down stop in the end zone by cornerback Christian Benford forced the Jets to settle for three points.

Third quarter, 11:06 remaining: Tyler Bass might be back on the hot seat. The Bills opened the second half by moving into New York territory, but a penalty cooled them off, and Bass pushed his 47-yard field-goal attempt wide right.

The Bills still lead the Jets 20-17.

HALFTIME: Aaron Rodgers did it again.

At the end of a second quarter the Buffalo Bills otherwise dominated, Aaron Rodgers connected with his old Green Bay teammate, Allen Lazard, on a 52-yard Hail Mary on the final play of the first half, cutting Buffalo's lead to three, 20-17.

It was a crushing end to a mostly positive first half for the Bills. Their defense had given up 10 points on the first two drives, then started to settle in and get three third-down stops. Buffalo had held the Jets to 173 yards from scrimmage – until that Hail Mary.

The Bills get the ball to start the second half.

Second quarter, 21 seconds remaining: Josh Allen did it again.

The Bills capped an impressive 80-play drive when Allen stepped up in the pocket, evaded a potential sack, scrambled left and fired a 12-yard dart to tight end Dawson Knox in the front left corner of the end zone, giving Buffalo a 20-10 lead.

The Bills got some help in the form of two Jets pass-interference calls on the drive.

Second quarter, 2:49 remaining: Josh Allen's 6-yard touchdown pass to Mack Hollins capped a 10-play, 90-yard drive that has given the Bills a 13-10 lead (Tyler Bass missed the extra-point attempt, wide waaaaay left, after the Jets' Quinnen Williams got a hand on it). The drive ended with 6:54 left before halftime, but it started with a vintage Allen play: Flushed to his right, the quarterback sprinted out of the end zone and connected with Ray Davis for a 42-yard gain near midfield.

The Bills will get the ball back with another chance to score before the break.

First quarter, 2:01 remaining: The Jets are back in front, having taken a 10-7 lead on the Bills after Aaron Rodgers found Garrett Wilson on third down in the back of the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown.

On the drive, Rodgers found tailback Breece Hall for 21 yards and handed off to Hall for another 24-yard gain.

Defense is optional on both sides so far: The Jets have averaged 7.5 yards per play, the Bills 7.8.

First quarter, 6:12 remaining: The Bills have answered, and they've answered with muscle. Josh Allen's 1-yard touchdown run on a quarterback push put them up 7-3 on the New York Jets, and it capped a nine-play drive on which Buffalo rushed eight times.

Rookie tailback Ray Davis is teaming with Ty Johnson in place of the injured James Cook, and both reserves showed up on the initial drive, gaining a combined 61 yards on eight attempts. Even the lone pass, a 14-yard throw to tight end Dalton Kincaid, included a forearm shiver on the left sideline to Jets cornerback D.J. Reed.

First quarter, 11:06 remaining: On their opening possession, the New York Jets made three consecutive first downs and got chunk plays from receivers Allen Lazard (10 yards) and Garrett Wilson (24 yards) and tailback Breece Hall (11 yards), en route to a 34-yard field goal by Greg Zuerlein that has them out in front 3-0 over the Buffalo Bills.

It was the first time this season the Jets scored on their opening possession of a game.

PREGAME: The Bills (3-2) hope to hang on to their AFC East lead when they take on the Jets (2-3) in a division matchup at 8:15 p.m. in MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Monday Night Football, Week 6. Tonight we have the New York Jets hosting the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are 1.5 point road favorites according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The 3-2 Buffalo Bills have lost two straight games after winning their first three games. The Bills have had major problems on offense recently, scoring just 30 points in their last two games combined and putting up less than 280 yards of total offense in three of their last four games. The Bills, once a pass happy team with Josh Allen at quarterback, are now a run first team, with the team putting up less than 200 yards of passing in three of their last four games. Overall the Bills rank just 26th in the NFL in passing yards, 14th in rushing yards, and 23rd in total yards on offense. This ain’t exactly the offensive juggernaut of Bills teams past. On defense the Bills aren’t much better. They rank 26th in rushing yards allowed, 31st in yards per carry allowed, and 21st in total yards allowed. Those are offensive and defensive numbers usually associated with cellar dwellers, not first place teams. What’s the Bills’ secret sauce? Turnovers. The Bills have just two offensive turnovers this season, a remarkable stretch for a team quarterbacked by Josh Allen, who has traditionally been a turnover machine. It’s probably a safe bet the Bills will experience some regression to the mean over the course of this season. The Jets hope to start that regression tonight.

The 2-3 New York Jets come into this game losers of two straight games. They were in position to win the game in the waning seconds in each of the last two losses but failed to seal the deal. The Jets have looked much like they have in recent seasons, with the offense being one of the worst in the NFL and the defense one of the best in the NFL. The Jets rank 30th in rushing yards, 31st in rushing yards per carry, 28th in net passing yards per attempt, and 27th in total yards on offense. That’s not exactly what the Jets anticipated when they traded for Aaron Rodgers to lead them out of the wilderness. The defense, however, has been very good. The Jets rank 1st in passing yards allowed, 1st in passing touchdowns allowed, 1st in net yards passing allowed per attempt, 8th in rushing yards allowed per carry, and 2nd in overall yards allowed.

This game shapes up as a battle between two struggling offenses. The Jets offense is facing a mediocre Bills defense, while the Bills offense is facing an excellent Jets defense. With the Jets at home, that should favor the Jets, as long as they can avoid turning the ball over on offense. The Bills have relied on a +7 turnover differential so far this season to mask what are major deficiencies on both sides of the ball. If the Jets can manage to not lose the turnover battle, they should emerge with a victory. I’m taking the Jets to do just that and move into first place in the AFC East with a mild upset over the Bills tonight on Monday Night Football. If you bet, good luck to you, and please consider using our friends at FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Bills are 1.5-point favorites over the Jets (Bills -1.5) with the over/under set at 41.5 points. Buffalo is -125 to win outright on the moneyline, while New York is +105 to pull off the upset.

The Bills lost 23-20 to the Texans last week for their second straight defeat. Josh Allen has struggled in those games, completing just 25 of 59 (42.4%) pass attempts with only 1 touchdown pass. The Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh after losing 23-17 to the Vikings last week in London. This season, Aaron Rodgers has only completed 61% of passes with 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Let's get into my Bills vs. Jets prediction and my NFL picks for Monday Night Football.

Bills vs. Jets Expert Picks

I like the Jets +1.5 at BetMGM or DraftKings. The trends support New York bouncing back, and Rodgers has thrived in his career as an underdog.

I'm not betting either side of the moneyline and am taking the point with the Jets,

I'm not betting the total for this game but if you're interested, primetime unders entered this weekend 165-109-3 (60%) since 2019, covering by 1.5 points per game, according to our Action Labs data. Then last night's primetime game went under the total, as well.

My pick: Jets +1.5 (-110)

Bills vs. Jets Monday Night Football Week 6 Preview

For all the hate former Jets head coach Robert Saleh and current Bills head coach Sean McDermott have been getting, the coach on either side who arguably deserves the most criticism is Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Despite having an MVP-caliber quarterback in Josh Allen, Brady's offense completely failed to set his QB up for success and fell apart in the last two weeks against above-average defenses.

The Jets defense entered Week 6 ranked 12th by DVOA and seventh against the pass. The Jets are 24th against the run but stiffened last week against Minnesota, allowing 82 yards on 30 carries. Either way, this sets up as another spot in which the Bills will struggle to move the ball through the air.

The Jets rank fourth in the NFL by getting pressure on 39.8% of dropbacks. Under pressure, Allen completes an NFL-low 36.4% of passes. Save for Khalil Shakir (ankle), who practiced only once this week in a limited fashion and is not 100%, the Bills don't have a wide receiver who can reliably separate among Keon Coleman, Mack Hollins, Curtis Samuel and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Brady compounds these issues with head-scratching snap distributions. Despite being their best wide receiver, Shakir has only been on the field for 73% of pass plays. Tight end Dalton Kincaid is Buffalo's second-best receiver but has been on the field for only 69% of pass plays because he's often subbed out for run-blocking purposes on early downs.

With Shakir out last week, there were third-down pass plays in which neither Kincaid nor Coleman were on the field. It's one thing to commit to a run-heavy offense and move on from the expensive, disruptive Stefon Diggs, but it's another thing to consistently take Allen's highest-percentage pass targets off the field. It's as if Bills brass has totally forgotten that Allen's career took off with the arrival of former slot receiver Cole Beasley back in 2019.

Running backs Ray Davis and Ty Johnson have combined for 7.2 carries per game despite collectively averaging 3.3 yards per carry, and James Cook is also only playing 50% of the passing snaps. Even if Brady wanted to change that this week, Cook is questionable with a toe injury and was able to practice only once in the buildup to this game.

Defensively, the Bills are 10th in DVOA against the pass, but 24th in pressure rate. Von Miller, who is tied for the team lead in sacks (3.0) and is second on the team in pressures (13), is serving a four-game suspension. Ed Oliver, who is tied for third on the team in pressures (nine), will miss his second straight game with a hamstring injury.

The Jets offense has issues of their own, but Rodgers should be able to have success from a cleaner pocket than he's seen the past two weeks against the Broncos and Vikings, who are both top-three in pressure rate.

The Bills corners have been good, but their safeties are shaky, and Rodgers should also be able to take advantage of their issues at linebacker in the absence of Matt Milano (IR, biceps) by dumping the ball down to Breece Hall and Braelon Allen against a defense that ranks 31st in DVOA on passes to running backs.

Demoted offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett is terrible at all things except being Rodgers' bud and making Austin Powers references, so I'm still viewing Todd Downing as an upgrade. Downing's play designs are superior to Hackett's.

This is a good spot for the Jets. The coaching change from Robert Saleh to Jeff Ulbrich works in their favor here because it gives them the element of surprise schematically against what would otherwise be a familiar divisional foe. Both offenses are in disarray, and both coaching staffs leave much to be desired, but the Jets have the healthier and better defense, and they will be playing at home.

Per our Action Labs data. Week 6 underdogs vs. favorites with a winning straight-up record are 97-61-6 (61%) ATS since 2005.

Rodgers is 30-13 (70%) ATS in divisional home games, and he is 29-15 (66%) ATS off a SU loss when the line is shorter than -7.

Pick: Jets +1.5 (-110)

Tonight’s Monday Night Football game features a showdown between two AFC East rivals. Both teams come into this evening’s game on losing streaks. The New York Jets not only lost their head coach, Robert Saleh, who was fired last week, but they have also lost their last two games. The Jets only managed nine points two weeks ago in a 10 to 9 loss at the hands of the Denver Broncos before dropping last week's game against the Minnesota Vikings, 23 to 17.

The Bills are also on a two-game losing streak. Two weeks ago, they lost 35 to 10 in a blowout to the Baltimore Ravens. Buffalo followed their week four loss with another loss last weekend to the Houston Texans, 23 to 20. Despite their 3 and 2 record, the Bills still held onto first place in the AFC East going into this past weekend, pending this evening’s game results.

Buffalo Bills (3-2) 1st AFC East @ New York Jets (2-3) 1st AFC West

—My Pick: While this evening’s line is tight, the Bills still own the AFC East until someone can step up and prove otherwise. The Jets are a complete mess despite managing two wins this season, and that dysfunction that has long been their calling card will likely carry on through this season. The Jets have a great defense, but the Bills are a better team at this point, and at this point in their careers, Josh Allen is just a better quarterback than Aaron Rodgers. The Bills should win and cover the line this evening.
